South Australian Certificate of Education

Picture
The South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) is a modern, internationally-recognised secondary school qualification designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and personal capabilities to successfully participate in our fast-paced global society.
You’ll be awarded the SACE if you successfully complete requirements that include a range of skills and subjects you may study at school or may have acquired through other education, training or experience.

Watch this short video for an introduction to the SACE @ Seaview High School

Completing your SACE

To successfully achieve their SACE, students must pass the following subjects at Seaview High School:
  • Personal Learning Plan (PLP) or Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) in Year 10
    • Note that from 2026, Seaview students will only study EIF in Semester 1 of Year 11
  • Two semesters of an English subject in Year 11
  • One semester of a Mathematics subject in Year 11 (unless they have completed Stage 1 Essential Maths in Year 10)
  • Activating Identities and Futures (AIF) or the Research Project in Year 11
    • Note that from 2026, Seaview students will only study AIF in Semester 2 of Year 11
  • Three full year Stage 2 subjects (or the equivalent of a Cert III VET course)

Students will also need to study at least 90 credits worth (equivalent to nine semester length subjects) extra to meet the minimum 200 credits required by the SACE Board.

The SACE Capabilities...

Seven key personal capabilities are embedded into the SACE program.  These are the underlining life skills you will use to successfully deal with many situations at work, at home, and in your community, especially when faced with a challenge of needing to work out what to do, when you don't have all the knowledge at hand.
That's also why your personal capabilities are what employers want, and look for in you, when you apply for a job with them.
