The SACE
The South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) is a modern, internationally-recognised secondary school qualification designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and personal capabilities to successfully participate in our fast-paced global society. You will be awarded the SACE if you successfully complete requirements that include a range of skills and subjects you may study at school or may have acquired through other education, training or experience. |

Completing your SACE
To successfully achieve your SACE, students must pass the following subjects at Seaview High School:

- Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) in Semester 1 of Year 11
- Activating Identities and Futures in Semester 2 of Year 11
- Two semesters of Literacy (English) in Year 11
- One Semester of Numeracy (Mathematics) in Year 11. A full year of Mathematics in Year 11 is recommended.
- Three full year Stage 2 (Year 12 ) subjects, or the equivalent of a Cert III VET course.
- Students will also be required to successfully complete at least 90 credits (equivalent of 9 single Semester subjects) extra to meet the minimum 200 SACE credits required to achieve the SACE certificate.
The SACE Capabilities
Seven key personal capabilities are embedded into the SACE program. These are the underlining life skills you will use to successfully deal with many situations at work, at home, and in the community, especially when faced with a challenge of needing to work out what to do, when you don't have all the knowledge at hand.
That's also why personal capabilities are what employers look for when you apply for a job with them.

The ATAR
The ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) is used by universities to rank students based on their Year 12 results. It is a competitive score system that allows students from all over Australia to apply for university courses anywhere in the country. Most students in South Australia use their ATAR to apply for tertiary courses through SATAC (the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre). |

Achieving an ATAR
You must study at least four Year 12 subjects, plus Activating Identities and Futures (AIF), to receive an ATAR. You can use a flexible option (such as a Cert III VET course) to replace ONE Year 12 subject.
All Year 12 subjects at Seaview (except for Community Connections) are ATAR eligible subjects.

SATAC Tertiary Entrance Booklet
The SATAC Tertiary Entrance booklet contains information about transitioning from school to tertiary studies. Students in Years 10, 11, and 12 can use this booklet to help them make subject choices in school that fit their future study goals.
